Overview
This project aims to develop a mobile task and goal management app for students enrolled in a one-year certificate program in data analytics, UX design, cybersecurity, and web development.
The app will provide students with a convenient platform to track their progress, manage assignments, and achieve their academic and career goals.

Problem
Fellows participating in the Knowledge House Fellowship frequently encounter challenges when it comes to tracking their goals and progress, efficiently managing tasks, time, and collaborating with their peers. To address these needs, they require a comprehensive tool that can assist them in achieving their goals.

User
Students enrolled in the yearly Innovation Fellowship program in data analytics, UX design, cybersecurity, and web development.
Goal
By providing fellows with a goal tracking, management and communication tool, we expect to see an improvement in the task completion rate, with fellows successfully completing a higher percentage of their assigned tasks in a timely manner.

Constraints
The primary challenge in this project is the limited time available for the development and deployment of the task manager and goal tracking mobile app. The time constraint poses a challenge to ensure the app is developed, tested, and implemented within the 2 month given timeframe.
Process
Insight
So how do the students keep track of all of their assignments, balance life, all while communicate to their instructors? What are some convenient and enjoyable tools they already use for these purposes?
To delve deeper into this matter, we conducted two Google surveys--one for the current students and another for the alumni-- to gain valuable insights into their primary challenges that hinder timely completion of tasks.
The second research method was observational. During a zoom class, on the topic of “goal planning” I observed the chat thread and used these outputs to get more insight on students perspective on task management. Most people admitted that time management was their main challenge. With that, our team knew to include a time notification feature in the design.
We asked the alumni, “what would you have done different?”

The surveys also let us know what popular apps were already being used by the students. This helped with comparative analysis and features we can include. We thought about popular social media platforms like Instagram and their chat design, something that was already familiar with everyone.
Personas
Another inquiry was to clarify the main goal of students participating in the fellowship. User personas revealed to us that the student key goal is finding a job in their track. This also aligns with the business goal of the Fellowship program, ensuring the students find a job at the end of their fellowship.
IA / Wireframe
Information architecture was based on the key features, we discovered in our surveys. We prioritized the most popular feature based on feedback, we also kept in mind how familiarity with similar platforms like Trello's 'task' feature or instagram's messaging layout would be helpful to students.

Color Palette
Our team agreed adding a slight variation of the app's color scheme from the website's would distinguish the two but remain within the organization's brand guidelines.

Solution
Whats Next?
Ultimately, our goal was successfully achieved as we developed a mobile task management app to assist TKH fellows in meeting their deadlines. However, during our research phase, we acknowledge that additional data could have been beneficial in highlighting key features important to the users.
Moving forward, our next step involves conducting usability testing and implementing metrics to evaluate our progress and ensure we are heading in the right direction. At this point, I am confident in the strength of our product. Its primary objective is to consolidate features from various existing tools, providing fellows with a convenient all-in-one solution for tracking their fellowship assignments. Nevertheless, there is still room for further iterations and enhancements, particularly in considering how instructors can effectively utilize the app.
